I was counting on someone to bring the idea to the table that money cannot cause the "ungood" that I mentioned. Nothing is inherent about it, therefore it is not some monument in human existence to be hailed as an all good, all prevailing concept. Money is the root of more then just economic progress and fancy statistics - It's a concept that puts vast restrictions on an individual's standard of living and puts a price on everything , including human life.
Well, I consider money a representation of goods or services.  Meaning if you have money in your pocket, in most cases it is derived from a product or service you provided that was worth something to someone.  In that sense I find money to be inherently good.  If you have tons of dough that you aquired honestly, you most likely have done something or provided something that others find considerably valuable.

Of course there's complications to this and many tangents, but that's the basis of money as I see it.

Yeah, I can't wait to rent that 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse to store all of my bartering material substituting as money.

And that Yellow Freight truck to haul it around while I go shopping....

I can't wait to see what my boss plans to pay me with this week! Yippee! Maybe it'll be a pony! ;)

Instead, I'm stuck with these little green pieces of paper, and this small plastic card that magically connects to the small pile of green pieces of paper I have stashed in this outfit called a "bank."

I'd much rather dicker for days on end over trading an old radio for an ice cream cone.

/sarcasm

Bartering is fine within the limited confines of a flea market environment, but if you want to live in a world as big as this one, bartering isn't that practical. And I certainly wouldn't put it on the same level of "good" as hard currency.

For the sake of being clear, I'm not lobbying for replacing money with bartering skills or anything of the sort.

No, you didn't do that, but you seemed to imply that bartering was somehow  superior with this quip:

Money is the root of more then just economic progress and fancy statistics - It's a concept that puts vast restrictions on an individual's standard of living and puts a price on everything , including human life.
Care to explain yourself a little more?

Anything of value has a price - if there's no value to it, there'd be no price.......
