Mr. Rowlands and Mr. Landauer,

I am pleased by the esthetics of this site's layout as well as its broadened variety of options. I shall explore it further in the coming days and anticipate taking advantage of the new features during my future associations with SOLO.

You may, however, want to check the discussion board for Mr. Perigo's opening article; I receive an error message whenever I attempt to access it, and I am wondering whether the problem relates to my computer or the site. I shall try again tomorrow.

In the meantime, I am already greatly intrigued by my ability to italicize directly within the post without typing in code.

I am

Good new board.  Now let's see if we can keep the discussions as good.

The new features here at SOLO are fantastic. Joe, Jeff, and Linz need to pat themselves on the back for creating a beacon of light here in the cyber-realm of life. At SOLO I know there will always be ardent discourse and plenty of good humor to go around. I like how books and book discussion are more prominently featured. This will be fun!

There is too much clutter on the title page for my liking. Why not have this as just a general introduction together with the links? There is a  /Articles page, so why not list this up the top with the Credo, war, etc. links - together with films, books, art reviews/discussions?
I like the idea of the sanction/ edit / mark choices, but I am not sure what edit is used for and it does not remove or change anything (?).  However, being able to change font etc.with spelling check (basic word functions) is great.

Anyway, far be it for me to criticise something that you have obviously put a lot of effort into and have definitley improved.

Congratulations and Thanks.

I think it's great. Like, very much, the fact that you can edit your own posts,
once they show up.

That is my only complaint. The, "moderated," thing means not seeing your post for hours, which slows down conversation a tad, don't you think? When will we adults be able to post directly?

(You probably won't see this till tomorrow, in which case, I wrote this yesterday.)

To Marcus: You can edit your front page preferences, I believe, to display exactly what you want displayed.

To EVERYONE!: Here are some keystrokes that will work in the Reply and Post message boxes:

Ctrl + i = italicize selection or next word typed

Ctrl + b = bold selection or next word typed

Ctrl + u = underline selection or next word typed

Ctrl + k = insert a link on the selection or at the insertion point

Is anyone else having strange problems using the new site? When I visit the forums the most recent posts are not coming up, but when I go to solohq.org and then back to solohq.com, I then (sometimes) get the later posts. It's as if I'm stuck in a time warp. For instance, at the .com site the poll has 27 votes, but on the .org site it has 36 (and this number has not changed for about two days).  And according to my screen the most recent article was Edward Younkins' on the 3rd of March.

Maybe it's something wrong with the settings on my computer, but the question is, which ones?! I don't have this problem with any other websites I use.

By the way, I am logged in so, that isn't the problem.

Thanks

Jonathan

Well, thanks for all the work. I'll come back when you decide to make it a site for grownups.

I don't see the problem with this set up Regi.  Actualy I find it to be a kind of interesting method of taking care of problems in a rather grown up manner.  Rather than having to call the "dad" or the moderator every time someone does something particularly bad.  I can simply cast a negative vote and help drop them back to moderated status.  If I am the only one who thinks its particularly bad however, I do not have an overwhelming power since I can vote only once per post.

Greetings.

Here are a few brief questions that I ask from my curiosity about the new features of SOLO.

1. Is there an Atlas Level 4? If so, how many Atlas Points are required to reach it?
2. Though I have reached Level 3, my posts to the Art Gallery are still moderated. Is this meant to be the case? (The Atlas FAQ states that, after Level 2, gallery posts, except for polls and articles, will no longer be moderated).

Thank you,
G. Stolyarov II

The levels keep going up, but each one take more.  Also, I decided to make the art gallery permanently moderated because of all the transloading problems, so we don't get broken pictures on the front page.

Ok there is a way to see which posts of yours got sanctions but is there a way to see what posts of yours got voted against?

Eric,

Short answer: No.

Even the part where you see which of your posts have sanctions is temporary. I intend to clean that up and make it nicer to view. That much was easy enough to do, and I figured people would appreciate it even in an unfinished state.

We've been thinking about having some kind of icon for dislike votes so you can see those as well. Any ideas? I'm currently thinking skull and crossbones or something.

There's a bunch of new features on the way.

Did you notice you can click on the SOLO letters in the top menu bar to go back home?

But there IS a way to see negative votes: hold your mouse over the Atlas icon(s) and a tooltip will appear.

Rodney is right, but there are two places they don't show up. First, if there are no "like votes" at all, there's no Atlas Icon to hover over. And second, if you go to your personal page, it has a list of your posts with '*' next to it representing your like votes, but doesn't do anything for dislike votes.
