Yes that's a good one BUT, how do you get them interested in their own business.

Robert

"Fear of God",  I suppose for 45+ years I didn't really know what that really meant.  Now it's not so funny.  No, I'm not upset about the comment, you or anyone else, ... just an interestingly untimely comment.

It was not too long ago that I feared god.  I was afraid cause I questioned the existance of god.  I feared I was lacking in some capacity to have faith.  What was wrong with me!!!  It's not funny when you are engulfed with that fear.  No, I know you meant that in a totally different context.  As you can tell I've not thoroughly realized the impact nor have I desensitized myself to "Fear of God".  Wow, fearing your creator, what an oximoron, not sure I spelled that right.  Any how carry on, I'll shut up for now.

Paul,

I grew up in the same ugly atmosphere - so do indeed understand your position.... but the discovery of it being all a fake, an unwarranted assumption, totally turned me around - and is why g o d was in quotes....

See my speech "Thunderous Replies to Thoughtless Remarks" for some ideas.

Hi Paul,

I really empathize with this residual fear. There is another recent thread that has recently started that you might be interested in reading and even contributing to.

Axiomatic concepts, which is Objectivism's treatment of the starting point of being, is particularly pertinent to this fear. If you can put belief in God in the same category as axiomatic concepts, it seems that the distant thunder you hear when "forbidden" thoughts crop up abates a little.

Glad to see that you are sticking around.

Michael
