Dunno. I can think of all sorts of good excuses to not accede to collectivist commands to serve on a jury for essentially no pay, to sacrifice what I value for something lesser, to ...

Depends on what you're trying to excuse yourself from doing.

An excuse implies a duty somewhere - it is, in this phrasing, a tribalist mentality, and as such, of course, there can never be a good one - for a good one would be subordinating the tribal to the individual...

to the individual, there is no such thing as a duty - and as such never a need for an excuse...
