To clarify:

"There is no conflict between wishing to conserve and hold the precious gains that have been achieved in the past, which is the aim of the true conservative, and wishing to carry those achievements even further, which is the aim of the true liberal."

Hazlitt, of course, commits himself to the true meanings of the words, not the twisted interpretations that have gained acceptance in contemporary culture.

Ever notice these Austrian economists tend to live long lives? Menger was 81, Mises and Hayek were 93,and Hazlitt was 99... interesting...

You guys are way too smart for me. What does "low time preference" mean? What the hell are you talking about...

Oh, I get it, an economic term, taking the long view. Well, they were pretty damned smart. I bet they had their fun too.
