In my own view, an affirmative answer to this introspective question has 4 outcomes:
1) the common-sense conclusion is wrong -- and I can prove why that is
2) the common-sense conclusion is irrelevant in the current context -- and I can prove why that is
3) the common-sense conclusion is unacceptable in the current context -- and I can prove why that is
4) the common-sense conclusion is insufficient in the current context -- and I can prove why that is
