The lesson of history is that, in the long run, super-elites have two ways to survive: by suppressing dissent or by sharing their wealth. It is obvious which of these would be the better outcome for America, and the world. Let us hope the plutocrats aren’t already too isolated to recognize this. Because, in the end, there can never be a place like Galt’s Gulch. Chrystia Freeland http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2011/01/the-rise-of-the-new-global-elite/8343/#
What a load of crap - as if the alternative is "I sacrifice to you", or "You sacrifice to me"... the REAL alternative is - NO ONE SACRIFICES TO ANOTHER...
Chrystia Freeland's philosophy here is self-refuting. If to survive as a wealthy person you must give up your wealth, you are no longer wealthy and thus, no longer surviving as a wealthy person.
I received this link during a "plutocracy" argument via email. I used both of your points above in rebuttal. It's nice to know that the very same truth is objective and attainable by other minds. Great minds think alike.
