Relax, guys.

I'm just having fun with the NSA, etc.

I can tell when those guys are spying on me, and I can tell when I am totally free to roam the internet without any kind of federal (or non-federal, but-nevertheless-government-sponsored) oversight whatsoever ... and, for the last several years at least (for me), it's pretty much been: all-spying, all-the-time. I'm sort of a ham though, so ... when I know that someone is looking ... well ...

:-)

Ed

p.s., Everybody gets a sanction (from me) for their recent "contribution" to this thread. Kyle, your capacity to analyze is inspiring. What makes my story most believable is that anyone who has spent the time, resources, and painful experience required in order to get a penis tattoo ... is also someone on the look-out for others who have done the same. If you find no one else, then you are special. If you find someone else, then you have sort of an instant solidarity or brotherhood. You really can't lose when you get one, but now I digress. Manfred, your teary-eyed emoticon was the perfect synopsis for your "yes, I really mean it" manifesto. Tres, your light-hearted but panoramic perspective on matters is like refreshment to the soul.

p.s.s., I joke about the spooks, etc. because I have to (for mental self-preservation). It is truly terrible what they are doing and I have had to re-adjust my life somewhat in order to accommodate/integrate something truly terrible (i.e., domestic spying). Part of the re-adjustment for me is to interject some humor into the human tragedy I (and possibly all of us) am (are) living through. A friend of mine told me it is like a "dance" you engage in, with incentives and counter-incentives. I have discovered I'm being spied on, so I have made it more expensive and time-consuming to spy on me. Like Dean was saying in another thread, you have to try to make it more painful to commit crime than to not commit crime. When it becomes more painful to commit crime, then crime will diminish. It really is like a dance.
