Re: Nixon "Just half?"

Ha! What was he thinking?

I didn't mean in intensity; I meant in form. Like all politicians, Nixon only ever embraced the 'borrow/spend' half of Keyne's theory, which is the running downhill half.

It's as if when assessing the act of commerce in which parties deliver value and receive value as two halves of an exchange, politicians decide to embrace only the receive value half, ignore the rest, and call themselves masters of the art of commerce.

Nixon gave us the energy crisis, which was not an energy crisis, but an adjustment of the value of oil in units of newly floating downward international US dollars, he accelerated the destruction of the dollar as a trade 'strategy' and just for spite, he killed the one high impact, gradient restoring stimulative program the government actually backed and that was the space program.

Which of course couldn't continue because that was JFK's legacy, and after all, running the economy is mainly about arranging petty revenge between small minded twits.

On the other hand, he did contritely bow to Chinese communists and gave them an out from their self imposed cul de sac-- an event touted by our own closet commies when they aren't also spitting at that insane SOB.

Does the job so often draw such flawed power crazed beings, as a kind of bias? Or is it a consequence of the fact that we live in a tribe of naked sweaty apes who are, on average, average, even when elected to drive around in the bullet proof limo with their crony friends and play emperor?

regards,
Fred

Anyway, I hope you don't stop.

Indeed, that is the human condition; we all hope we don't stop.

In the end, we strive either to live forever or die valiantly in the attempt. (I think Marx said that. No, not that Marx, the Marx that wasn't a compete tool: Groucho Marx.)

But now I'm wondering; this is the third time in a week that my imminent termination/departure from somewhere has been openly pondered.

It's what we do when that house guest is pushing his fourth month and is splayed out on the couch in his robe, unshaved, spilling Cheet-ohs all over the carpet.

As we ask him to lift his feet while we vacuum up the crumbs, "Say...I hope you aren't leaving, soon?????"

Should I be paranoid, or just lift me feet?

regards,
Fred

Fred,

Just lift your feet. I saw the other comments about leaving in the other thread, got a twinge in my nerves, and said nothing: I thought silence was the best answer at the time. Then, like a damn seed that fell out of your hand as you were walking to the garden -- leaving you with an eventual, single tomato plant in the middle of your yard -- I coughed up the same meme that had been planted by someone else. I hate "subliminalism", it seems mystical -- but I admit I got burned by it when I mentioned you leaving.

If the others had never brought it up, it'd not have crossed my mind (and I would've never repeated it). Besides, you seem like you are some kind of super-hero with a spine coated in adamantium (see Wolverine comics for details). I cannot foresee you cutting tail and running, and I cannot fathom you being pushed out, either. I could even picture, in my mind's eye ... [reaches for Looking Glass (and you know what that means)] ... a fantastical scenario ... [scary music begins in the background] ... wherein ... [deeper voice than usual now] ... a post-apocalyptic, communist-Amerika (or a Chimerica, if you will) where everyone lost "faith" and left -- but you still keep coming back here, typing stuff like this:
Hello. Is anybody out there? I want to talk about values. Is anybody listening? Okay, understanding that others may be out there but, even though inspired, you might also be too afraid to respond (for fear that Commissar Obama would send drones to your internet signal), I'm going to just start talking. For starters, you are smart. Ask yourself why I'm not afraid of the drones. What did I figure out how to do? It has to do with how I was able to reboot this (Joe's) website without even accessing the server for it (indeed, without even using the server for it). I can't say more than that -- in case "you know who" is reading this (or a useful idiot working for him).

Now, I'm going to recite a "poem" I wrote, one that has "value" in it (if you know what I mean). In case we lose power again -- like that time way back in 2012 when Obama cut the power to 600 million people in India (as a dry-run of HAARP technology meant to be utilized during warfare) -- you are going to want to write this poem down as soon as you see it. And this part is important: write the poem down EXACTLY as you see it -- every word in the right place, every letter. It may not be obvious to you at the time, why this is so important ...
So Fred, just lift your feet.

:-)

Ed
