Woodrow Wilson was probably the most statist of any of the presidents we've ever had. He created Income Tax and the IRS, passed major Anti-Trust legislation, created the Fed, created the FTC, re-instituted the first military draft since the Civil War, etc. Which makes that an astonishing quote.

He took office in 1913 - the quote is from 1912.

From Wikipedia, "In the campaign Wilson promoted the 'New Freedom', emphasizing limited federal government..." Campaign lies. How can you tell if a progressive is lying? Their lips are moving.

I agree, Steve.

It's almost comical how these tyrant-wannabee's telegraph what they are "up to" before the fact, or how they "out" themselves after the fact.

While interjecting poetic license, I'm thinking of statements very similar to these:

"It had nothing whatsoever to do with our foreign policy over there. You've got to believe me. Really, you do. I mean, it was just about a simple, disgusting video -- and that is all that it was about. A video; and not our foreign policy. Do I need to say it 3 times in order for it to sink in?"

...or ...

"We will not ever spy on ordinary citizens who are not specifically suspected of a documented crime, because that violates civil rights and liberties. And government -- at least government in the United States of America -- was not created for the purpose of violating civil rights and liberties. Such spying is not just un-American, it is anti-American. You don't make us more secure by violating our rights. There is no shortcut to American security."

... or ...

"We will not ever be able to see or understand what it is that is in the bill; unless we pass it first. It is imperative that we pass the thing. Otherwise, we will never discover what was in it, and that will gnaw at us until the we are in the grave (and nobody wishes that sort of life-long anguish on themselves). It is better to take the risk of passing it, than to experience the terrible certainty of life-long mystery. A mere threat of harm is better than a promise of harm."

:-)

That leak of the NSA PRISM program is a "weee" bit frightening. Reminds me of the movie Enemy of The State. Except now it appears "everyone" is potentially an enemy of the state.
Would be nice if everyone finally woke the hell up one day (sooner rather than later) and realized " The state" has in fact become the "enemy of the people"....
