"If you're one of those otherwise irredeemable whim-worshipping subjectivist intrinsicist dogmatist altruist collectivist headbanging caterwauling mystic Saddamite Newberry groupies who've failed to register for SOLOC 4, here's your one way to shorten your term in Purgatory. "

Thanks for the invitation, but for some strange reason I don't feel that I am welcome.

In a grave effort to redeem myself, let me say that I am new to Solo and didn't know abot Solo4.  Is this an annual event?  I'd love to go next year.

No piker-wannabe ginny

Katdaddy,

For Christ's sake stop being such a pussy-kat and be more like a tiger-kat!

There isn't any point in your abstaining from SOLO because you got caught in the blast of a Mt Perigo eruption! Abstinence doesn't work, half of the people you are avoiding don't know that you are avoiding them and the other half don't care!

So dust yourself off and get on with enjoying SOLO. Linz is just one, very loud, very proud, and very passionate SOLOist amongst nearly a thousand. Such things are part of the nature in every really passionate person! I seem to remember a thread extolling the virtues of Latin ladies not just for their romantic capacity but for their feistiness. The two go hand in hand, c'est la vie.

Which isn't to say that Linz was wrong to get pissed off. On the contrary, I agree with him! Unlike him though I just turned the bloody computer off in disgust and read a book.

There is one amusing aspect to this though. I've been known to fly off the handle on many an occasion. The first time I crossed swords with a SOLOist, Linz sent me a private E-mail to remind me that SOLO is a more gentile forum than the one he had set up previously... bahahaha!

Great post there Robert!

Though I must admit I didn't know Linz ran a Jewish Objectivist forum before....

Jesus! Somebody who listens to Lindsay all the time! Didn't anyone explain to her that on every other third Wednesday, you can read his first line and know to spend the rest of the day on the delete button?
We gotta get a little more formal in our introductions around here, I guess.

Evidently those solo members who were pointedly insulted by Linz's extremely uncivil and foul rant should just laugh it off and not expect an apology any time soon. On the contrary, those "pikers" are expected to send a "letter of goodwill" to insure their conditional acceptance to the second lowest rung of solo purgatory. Not anything I plan on doing in this lifetime. My sense of humor does not stretch that far. I have some books to read and projects to do. I won't be back here anytime soon.

Robert Winefield,

Kitten is not sulking.
Kitten is proud.
Kitten is passionate.
Kitten is rational.
Kitten is GOOD.

So no hard feelings. Y'all have a good conference. If we can make it, we'll bop by. Seriously. (Doesn't depend at all on what went down. Depends on being able to get away. Professional stuff.)

(Albeit, I am starting to have some doubts about Objectivist organizations whose leaders holler out threats and throw temper tantrums to drive off the best and the brightest. I wonder if having "LP" for initials has anything to do with it.)

Kat and I WILL attend a certain art exhibition in May in Chattanooga, Tenn, come hell or high water.

Apologies are Lindsay's business.

But I wouldn't take the uncivil and foul bit to heart for reasons I've already outlined. I certainly wouldn't quit SOLO, that would be like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I mean you'd be missing out on the sage advice and writing of Barbara Brandon, James Kilbourne, and Robert Bidinotto to name but three!

As for pikers and purgatory; he is twisting your tail.

If you don't like having your tail twisted, my advice is to avoid spending a lot of time in Australia and New Zealand if you ever travel overseas. This is because "taking the piss" (as it is called) is a favorite pass time. And, if you don't mind me saying so, you took the bait hook, line, and sinker...

yeah.....I knew that. I twisted tails right back. Actually, I'd love to go and meet some of you people but it looks like I am on call at work this weekend anyway.

Since I will not be there to personally pinch Linz' big fat hamster cheeks or yell "freebird" during an important speech, I am asking my dear friend Robert Winefield to take care of that business for me. Thanks Robert for agreeing to this. Your virgins await you in heaven.

I hope to attend Solo 5 next year. Hopefully it will be in Orlando or Atlanta next year. Have a great time everyone and no hard feelings.... seriously.

Kathy

As Groucho Marx said, "I would never join any group that would have me as a member."

As Barry Goldwater said when refused permission to play golf at a club because he was Jewish, "I'm only half Jewish. Can I play nine holes?"

As James Kilbourne says, "You guys are welcome in my sandbox any time, as long as you bring your own shovels."

Kat,

Good to see you are posting again.

Welcome back to the sandpit, as you can see they've almost tidied up the do-do in the art-corner, but PC is giving people wedgies in the music poll-area. At least he isn't riding his Ring Cycle.

Nobody wants to talk to Fred Seddon, but that is OK he appears to be quite happy entertaining some imaginary friends.
And Jennifer Iannolo has just recounted a touching tribute to her mother.

Must dash, Kernon Gibes and Kelly Renolds appear to have something interesting for show and tell...

As you can see, bust-up or no, SOLO goes on. It'd be a crime to miss any of it!

Is it just a coincidence that the conference is held on Kant's Birthday. Ahhhhh!! Happy Birthday folks.

  1. Earth Day 2005 falls on April 22.
  2. Kant's birthday falls on April 22.
  3. The first day of this year's SOLO conference falls on April 22.
I would say that the first two on that list have much more in common than the last two.
