| | More than likely she had a basic idea that there was a world about her, but didn't have the information to get beyond the initial conceptions she formed like water and mother. She had the concepts to learn: identity and existence. But without any further disciplined education she would have languished is my guess, being that others would have continued to treat her as if she was mentally capable to learn. And that's the importance of the clip, I think, that no matter how hindered a human being comes into the world, when 'shown' enough of the world, that human being can and will learn. It's just sad that post-modernists and existentialists keep pretending the mind is just a 'narrative,' among other things.
