Whoever is doing these good job on them, I think these might be very useful in getting people introduced to Rand and Objectivism, concretizing the notions of the speech very well with real world applications. The only thing I don't like is the narration, I've listened to this persons narrated version of Atlas Shrugged (I've listened to other books he has done as well) and imo he doesnt read it well.

What movie was that? That clip had me in tears. I couldn't imagine someone asking me to do such a thing as choose which of my children lives or dies. But I know that people were force to make such horrible decisions in nazi Germany.
I loved the song at the beginning too.
Hey Michael, I rather like the narration. That is exactly how I imagined JG sounding while I read Atlas Shrugged.

What is your opinion on preemptive force. Do you wait for the blow that is coming before defending or do you make the first move to thwart the blow?

I am guided by a principle in The Talmud (Sanhedrin 72a): If he is coming to murder you, rise up early and slay him first.

The clip of Meryl Streep being forced to choose which of her children will be spared by the nazis is Sophie's Choice.

But the music I added is indeed from Schindler's List, so he's not far off :)

Yeah, it's not bad, it just doesnt seem like the guy understands objectivism, from the way he emphasis and stresses various words and parts. Like I said, I've listened to other books he has done (I listen to tons of audio books and lectures) and you start to hear the same people, and the way he reads Galt's speech is the same way he reads letters that Howard Hughes wrote about how many tissues should be placed under his mattress (pretty sure this is the same reader) he seems speaking rather 'matter of factly' instead of revealing or explaining something extremely important. - But I could just be overly picky, or just judging it from what my preference would have been.

Anyone else listen to Kate Readings reading of Atlas Shrugged? I think she does a phonmenal job, and switches from Lillian to Hank to Dagny without missing a beat! And does a great job on the speeches. I'll try to put a clip up in another post.
