Article on the construction of the Cascade Tunnel, which I think served as a model for the Taggart Tunnel. The article is a fascinating account of human achievement. Plus, written from a perspective before PC, the benevolent universe (classic, heroic, Rand-like, whatever you want to call it) tone adds to reading pleasure. There sure isn't any of that "those exploitative industrialists are raping the poor, poor environment" in there.
