| Yesterday I heard that a famous and intelligent actress (not a current one) was an inventor and even had a patent. The speaker couldn't remember the name. I did a search on the Internet and found it was Hedy Lamarr. The patent was for an impressive engineering achievement. It is a fascinating story and you can read about it here. There is also a section about her (co-)invention in the Wikipedia article on her. Since Hedy Lamarr and Ayn Rand both lived in or near Hollywood and worked in the movie industry some of the same years, we wondered if there had been any contact between them. I did another search using both names. I didn't find any evidence there was. However, the search did lead to a novel that had both of them as characters. See the product description here. The only customer review says Ayn Rand's husband Frank O'Connor has an affair with Hedy Lamarr in the book. :-) | ||
