Rand in Stanford Encyclopedia Posted by Stephen Boydstun on 6/27, 1:24pm
Neera Badhwar and Roderick Long have created an entry for Ayn Rand in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. The treatment of Rand’s metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and politics is heavily slanted in directions of particular interest to Professor Long. There is too much reliance on secondary dicta by Rand and too much reliance on writers about Rand, rather than Rand’s texts. Her philosophy and her arguments are cut short by all the space give to commentators. (I personally appreciate that one of the entries in the bibliography is an essay in my journal Objectivity. Alas, none of my own writings on Rand’s philosophy were noted.* Not in the club, I expect (cf.). I learned of the Rand entry in SEP from Ryan Calhoun here.)
