The Midside Podcast Posted by Teresa Summerlee Isanhart on 6/22, 7:00pm | ||
(We might need a "Podcasts" category in "Content")
Daniel T. Richards has been a Facebook acquaintance of mine for a few years. Several months ago, he posted a link to a podcast he's participated in for at least as long as we've been FB friends. I wish I knew about it earlier. I really look forward to listening on Monday mornings before heading off to work.
Created and hosted by Justin Lesniewski, co-hosted by Daniel and and Elliot Rivera, the focus of the show is generally current events and entertainment in the culture: movies, television, sports (lots and lots of football discussion, less about the actual games, and more about treatment of players by the media, especially Justin's personal hero, Tom Brady and the Patriots) etc.
All three young men are Ayn Rand admirers. Daniel worked for ARI. Justin is a writer and tutor, and Elliot works in entertainment (Disney, currently.)
The "entertainment as art" discussions have been invaluable to me. Naturalism vs. Romanticism in film and television was something I just never paid any attention to or even thought about until I started listening to these guys. Their knowledge and insight into all realms of entertainment and popular culture offers a depth of understanding that is truly rare. Intelligence quotient is off the charts, but offered in benevolent way. Almost everyone can "get" what they're saying.
Upbeat, inspiring, principled, funny, frank and refreshingly devoid of political discussion, The Midside is a wonderful bit of sanity, humor and life serving affirmation. Give it a listen. You won't regret it.
