John,

Before you go off any further on your mocking of these kinds of organizations (with the insinuation that I must be nuts for having joined), let me give you some context.

I was after some poontang back then and just coming out of some heavy personal problems. (Successful on both counts.)

I didn't kill anybody and I learned a little about how and why they exist - very interesting in an historical context, by the way.

Also, Freemasonry is a much heavier trip with its influence in politics.

Michael

Mike:

I did 'mock', NOT 'the organizations' (as in "all" of them), but the idea of  a SINGLE group of 'conspiracy' CONTROLLERS (re my ref to the "Brownies") as supposedly known by the never-endingly speculating, ergo gossiping, non-controllers (now, all over the Web, as you're obviously aware, nm the earlier, as well as new, books on that subject).

I never "insinuated" that you "must be nuts for having joined" (though I see how that might have been seen as innuended, if not insinuated).  Not in the least. Sorry you read that into what I wrote. I have no prob with converts/members present or former, to Scientology/Catholocism/Cartesianism/Pythagoreanism/Playboyism (most esp Playboyism); my only prob is merely with any dogmatic/arbitrary adherence to such, which you have clearly not advertised; but, too many 'conspiracy/secret-club' fear-mongers have.

I 'joined' (or, if you wish, stuck with adherence to) Roman Catholicism for 12 yrs (right up to 'alter-boy'...before there were 'alter-kids'), later flirted with Scientology, looked into....oh...too many New-Ageish thingies, and almost bought into EST (Yoda, forgive me; wrong, they are, we know), and so...hey: I've spiritually 'traveled', man.

I NEVER 'mock' searchers, whether they've found *my* path-of-'Enlightenment' or not. (I'm a 'teacher' by personality-bent; and, always 'open' to learning more...that is rationally integratable. Teachers only mock...other 'Teachers'...even then, not frequently.) --- I merely, occasionally, mock the TB-conned or the conning "Bringers-of-Light" (think TV-Evangelists)...when they bring darkness into *my* 'light'. However, I don't see how this is relevent to you, our debate on 'rights' nwst (I will get back to that, neverfear).

A (long) while ago, I did send off for, and received, some brochures re Rosicrucianism. I saw that it's particular ideas were...interesting; just not enough to 'follow-up' on.

Re your successful dealing with whatever 'heavy personal problems' (I presume relevent to our subject) you had...good.

Re your successful dealing with getting that 'poontang'...WAY TO GO, MAN!
CONGRATS! HOPE IT WAS A GREAT WEEK, OR MORE! (I'll not ask for details...but...if you got a video...oh, nm.)

Re what you learned: ok. I don't know how to respond to that.

Re Freemasonry: I've not been a 'dues-paying Member', but, I've read enough about it to agree with you. (Scientology has some overt, yet 'underground'...competition...methinks.)

Again, sorry you took my satirical response re Secret-Controllers of ALL Secret (apart from what you can find in B&N) Groups so personally.

I think a specifically-devoted Thread (Sub-'Forum'?) devoted to 'Secret-Clubs/Conspiracy-Groups' would be a worthwhile one. I tried to 'start' a thread (on another subject) but gave up after a 1/2 hr.

P.S: I was less than half-facetious in my last question re Orion's Belt. It is the latest (and to my mind, most sensible-sounding) 'explanation' re the Pyramids. Since you self-advertised that you...had...been a Rosicrucian, and my knowing how they relate themselves to Ancient Egypt, well, I just had to ask. Again, again: sorry if you took it the wrong way.

P.P.S: I believe that ALL 'organizations' have some 'secret clique' either running it, or trying to (think 'turf-protection', at minimum). I believe that MOST 'organizations' have competing cliques trying to be the predominant influencer. I believe that ALL organizations, like all humans, have 'secret' agendas. Doesn't matter if we're talking Freemasonry, Boy Scouts, Tri-Lateral Commission, Kodak, Sic-Em_Get-Em_Screw-Em law firm, CIA, Disneyland, Mom, or Aunt Mabel (who watches you when you get near the cookie jar...but says nothing); ALL have 'secret agendas'...for whatever 'reasons.' But, my argument against there being a single controller is that I can't see how any *1* can extort control over all others (assuming they know ALL of the other 'secret' ones!). Ie: maybe most of 'them' are 'out there' TRYING to get omnipotent control, but, they're all aware that there's...competition. --- Assume *1* actually has 'control'. It wouldn't/Couldn't be so total that the other groups, seeing this, wouldn't go public crying about it. No way. Somebody'd be talking to National Enquirer, Fox, AND the NY Times. I have no doubt such groups are out there, trying to 'control.' I also have no doubt that there are too many competing groups to be able to acquire such...and...keep holding on to it....................and still stay, supposedly, 'secret.'________But if there is, I hope it's Hefner's Playboyism.

Peter, I thoroughly enjoyed your article.

A  weird thing about living life as a musician is always hearing people talk about musicians, and music. What is, what is not so, what's valid, what's not, what's caterwauling, what's not. What to think of all of it... For the longest time, I would get into it with people when I heard something that, well, I just knew better. But anymore, not so much. I've heard a lifetime of people saying wonderful and wonderfully stupid things about music. The important part to me is that almost always, music is touching them. I've only met a few people that have no use for music.

On the player end, the other side of the fence, you hear pretty much the same kind of stuff, but in reverse terms.

Funny that you talk about guitar and violin. I'm (pretty obviously) a guitarist, that is my main weapon. Actually, I'm a composer who plays guitar, and a pure eclectic. I'm not sure if I could fit anymore ingredients into my soup after all these years, but no doubt I will find a way. But, in the end, if you ask me what I do, I tell you I play guitar in a rock and roll band. About a year ago, I started working with a violinist from Kiev named Oksana Melnychenko, M.M.. She is (in order), a conductor, violinist, and pianist. She also barely knew who the Beatles are when I met her- 100% classically trained, and here she is playing in a very American rock band. I cannot fully emphasize the depth of experience this provided for both of us, on so many levels. The point is that, as musicians, we not only were able to communicate very quickly, but we could develop and perform material that before neither of us even dreamed of. This is classical-meets-rock, East meets West, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

The guitar-violin relationship is a unique and special one to me, although I suppose you could say that about any duo situation that's working. But, on the mechanical level, it's portable and powerful. When those two are put behind a rhythm section, it is simply raw power- think of what was opened up when John McLaughlin worked with violinists Jerry Goodman, L. Shankar, etc.- that is a benchmark. But I digress...

About the only purpose I find in people saying this is better than that in music is that it creates discussion or commentary. And I know that listeners are as important as performers, and they do well to learn from each other's perspective.

Music will run you over whenever you lay limits on it- that's what it does.
