Linz, glad you escaped from the situation safe and relatively sound.

Writing every day is great, if you are so inclined. Writing every day just to get out a new "Daily Linz" becomes a grind, and less useful to everyone. I will appreciate your efforts done in your own time.

Trust you to find some humor in what could otherwise have been a dangerous situation. Glad you're ok. Episodes like that do make one realize that what is urgent (scheduled like Daily Linz) may not be as *important*, like the longer range projects.

I recommend a concealed carry piece that you are happy with. Spend a little time learning to shoot it. Don't get anything too large- 9mm or under.

Can Kiwis legally carry concealed? I thought NZ unfortunately went draconian with respect to firearms.

Wow, bloody well handled Lindsay - sleeping pills! That's classic. Frankly, I think he must have been deranged to accept unlabeled medication from the owner of the abode into which he'd just forced entry. You did remarkably well!

Sadly, Rich, the defensive use of firearms in N.Z. is likely to get you arrested & charged - and as for actually *carrying* one, let alone a handgun ... yikes.

Thank goodness you are all right! Who knows what kind of lunatic this guy might have been? That was a pretty terrifying story, which you handled very well!

Glad to hear it was nothing more than a confused kid and that you're okay.  Are you sure it wasn't Robert Downey Jr? He has a history of that kind of thing.

If it were young Downey, he would have been in danger from me!

Actually, the kid came back last night, through the main entrance this time, to return some clothes of my brother-in-law's that the cops had mistakenly shoved in the kid's back-pack. He was very apologetic about everything. Evidently the cops tried to dragoon him into saying he was gay, which he isn't, looking for some scandal which simply wasn't there. When they got nowhere with that, they turfed him back onto the street. He took himself to hospital, still complaining of a terrible headache. He claims they gave him an emergency scan, which found nothing. Anyway, we had quite a chat. He's bright, but definitely a little strange. I got him hooked on the concept of individualism, though. Hopefully given him something helpful to think about. While we were chatting, Sally & John arrived home, so I was able to introduce them to their unintended guest. We sent him on his way with some wine & good cheer under his belt. All's well that ends well.

Holy Hell, Lindsay, you should be in the special forces. A big bottle of Valium & a crate of Steinlager and you'd win the war on terror single-handedly!

Good to hear you're ok, and in more ways than one, namely:

"Evidently the cops tried to dragoon him into saying he was gay, which he isn't, looking for some scandal which simply wasn't there."

Bloody incredible. As if you'd call the cops after plying someone with drugs & alcohol. Fucking idiots!

Further:

"The game went to the wire, the All Blacks playing with two men down in much of the second half because of some outrageous yellow-carding by the referee."

Yes, what a bunch of simps, hammered into submission by a typically manly display by our boys in black. The cretins want to ban the haka now. They say it's too intimidating! It's not exactly meant to be an invitation to a church picnic. Du-oh!

Kia Kaha!

Linz,

Both Kat and I are very glad that you are all right.

That was an extremely curious event. As you once said, part of the rich tapestry of life...

Initially I thought he got in via the bathroom window, but that's too small. So I assumed it must have been Sally & John's bedroom window. Last night he himself still claimed he couldn't remember for sure, but he thought he had climbed up onto the deck at the back.

We have our own Pom-like "simp" faction right here! Hahahahaha!

Gosh! I never would have thought the cops would have reason to try to sully your name. Pricks!

Glad to hear you're OK. Well handled! Onya! ;-)

Thanks for that anecdote Linz.

I was expecting  a surprise ending such as Andrew Bates' naked butt emerging out of the shower.

That would be scary ;-)

Linz,

Only in New Zealand. On this side of the water, one of you would be under arrest or under ground, or one of each. Probably the latter.

Quelle nonchalance!

Thank God you're all right, Linz.

Over here folks who enter other people's residences uninvited while they are home are called home invaders and are typically rather violent. They're a main reason why I keep a Winchester Defender 12-gauge and assorted other firearms.

I half expected to read a story of alien invasion from the strange way the story began.
Still don't know the fate of the intruder?
I don't know you, but I also am glad you are okay.
