I don't know anything about Dianna Krall, except what I just skimmed via Google,
but Jody is tres cool.  She runs her own show, and is one sharp businesswoman, from most accounts.  I sat a few feet behind her at a benefit at the Comedy Club in Hollywood some years back.  She didn't wear any makeup, perhaps for anonymity on the street.  And she laughed her head off at the routines.  And, I think she beat Madonna to the punch on having her OWN kid, sans legal father.

Ack! I would not have been able to sit still in my seat, Phil, I'd either have made a fool of myself or begun seizing, or both.

Both are pretty damn hot, but the fact that Diana Krall married Elvis Costello makes Jodie the winner in my book, even if Krall can sing.

Actually, I've had a crush on her since Foster took care of Martin Sheen in "The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane."

I'll post a follow up in "Separated at Birth" under Banter

Ted

PS Diana Krall can be seen occasionally on PBS and on cable tv's OVATION

Jeremy: "When you say that honestly, you "don't care", you don't care about engaging in any thought or discussion that would support my position... but you do clearly care deeply about engaging in all manner of thought and discussion that undermines my position."

No. I don't care about the history of this issue. I only cared enough to ask about one specific claim you made; namely, that Perigo and others are currently involved in a smear campaign against you. I asked what those "smears" are.

Jeremy: "After all, you are clearly putting a lot of energy into evaluating my claims as to the "smears" that have been issued against me. You care very deeply about coming up with a way to hog-tie and corral this discussion, through trying to dictatorially define what are the only "acceptable" smear terms, such as "drug addict", "rapist", and all that."

No. First, what I've said here so far hasn't taken "a lot of energy," and I don't care "very deeply." I'd say I'm somewhat curious. Second, I was just using those terms as examples. There are many, many others that would qualify.

Phil, I have dabbled in Second Life using a standard Windows XP laptop with the requisite memory, etc.  I have noticed quite a few furry types there.  I have toured a few "Doctor Who" fan spots and other places, but it never garnered my interest enough to spend much time there.  Neither did "Dungeons and Dragons" and other role playing games.  All of them required more work than the enjoyment they generated.

Robert, I only reveal myself in private nowadays.

And my boyfriend thinks Foster's too boyish, he likes Cate Blanchett, whom I also adore.  He has standing permission to leave me anytime - but only for a woman. As for men, he likes that wrestler Goldberg, while I prefer John Cena

Sam,

Do you mean that knowing that Foster is homosexual actually makes her unattractive? That seems odd to me. Could you explain? I certainly wouldn't condone harassment, but I'd be unable not to flirt and flatter. She plays straight roles on film. I like Ellen DeGeneres a lot, and how she acts toward her attractive male guests. Perhaps my problem is that I see just about anyone of any gender and orientation as fair game, verbally, and unless or until they object. If I met Lauren Bacall, I'd probably faint, and I would definitely break out in a sweat, but I wouldn't expect a romp in the hay. I have met gay men who are repulsed by women. I find that sad. I like nothing more than having a woman flirt with me, and flirting back, seriously and in fun.

Ted: Knowing that Jodie Foster is gay doesn't make her unattractive but her being unavailable erases her sex appeal. I have said to friends that she would make a great Dagny if she was just a bit younger and straight. I have trouble with gay actors/actresses playing straight, romantic roles and I think most straight men do, and perhaps women also. Ann Hecht plays a straight woman on a TV series called "Men in Trees", I think. She's supposedly straight now, after beaking up with Ellen Degeneres, but the image lingers on. It's not a stigma — just a perception.

I don't have a problem with Robin Williams playing a gay guy in "The Birdcage" and this doesn't change my perception of him in a straight role because I know that he's just playing a stereotypical part.

I have a question for women — would they get all excited watching a movie of someone like Rock Hudson in a love scene with, say, Doris Day?

Sam

I do get the "unavailable" idea. As I said in an earlier post, once I have met or interacted with someone beyond a certain point, I have them categorized as either available or unavailable. Co-workers, friends and relatives fit in this category, unless I have never before met them, or the issue has remained open and obviously so from the get-go. Since I have never met Jodie Foster, for me, she remains available until otherwise catalogued. I assume you are either thinking "Jodie Foster, hmm.., ah, but gay, so no..." Or you are thinking "Jodie Foster - gay. Of course not!" For me, there is a subtle but important distinction between these two, in that I really don't care about the label, so the first trail of thought might be one I'd accept as an unfortunate truth, but the second trail of thought would be unnatural to me.

In any case, once I do come to the conclusion that someone is unavailable, they are incest - off limits. This is very necessary for men who are attracted to men, for obvious reasons that I am sure men who are repulsed by the idea of men can be thankful for.

This leads me to another observation, that for me, with women, the default option is always "maybe until proven no,' while with men the default option is always "no, unless proven maybe."

As for Rock Hudson and Doris Day, there's a lot of baggage. I'd consider why so many young girls fell for that Sanjaya.

Thanks,

Ted

I feel the same as you Sam. Rock Hudson, Gary Grant, and Rupert Everett are still fun to watch. But, no, they don't throb any more. It's a good thing that Richard Chamberlain didn't come out of closet earlier, otherwise The Thorn Birds would be ruined for me. And there was Freddy Mercury, still immensely attractive...because of his talent and music.
