The thread isn't yours once you've created it - all of RoR is stuck with it.

I find your characterizations of MSK as biased, emotional, vindictive, less than logical and inappropriate. Are you expecting everyone's every post to be a model of logical and ethical perfection? No, no one would, but then you aren't attacking everyone who fails in perfection, just MSK, and we can all see that you aren't attacking his logic or his ethics for any reason other than you are angry at his treatment of you. That's not terribly admirable or even honest, is it?

You tried to piss on him in his own forum, and he kicked you off. So, you come over here to piss on him, as if we wouldn't mind a little urine.

Robert, I can appreciate your frustration with MSK. That said, I agree with the others in this thread that this topic fits best in Banter or, to a lesser degree, Dissent, not the General Forum. This explains why I chose to delete my earlier post in this thread to set an example. As for your comment about "Altruism Against Freedom," that belongs there so I have just re-linked it for you so you can transpose your comment there.

Please respect the suggestions of the other posters here who have many years of RoR experience and understand what actions work well or poorly on this site.

Luke - Thank you for your understanding and for being the only one who contributed to the thread rather than detracting. I respectfully disagree that this thread fits in "Banter" better than the "General Forum." This isn't a thread about the weather or which Lost characters best fit our personalities. I'm discussing a real and very relevant issue that affects this community. If you or Steve had been publicly maligned by MSK on his website in this way, I doubt you'd simply shove off and sulk about it by your lonesome.

This may be difficult for some to hear - because it is 100% true - but what used to work on this forum is no longer working. On its current course, this forum has *maybe* 6-12 months left to live with a positive outlook. Instead of those like Steve throwing an aspie tantrum over whether clear legos belong in the white legos box, shaking things up a bit might not be such a horrible idea when the alternative is sharing the fate of SoloPassion. Say what you want about me, but I've been generating discussion.

What might help this place would be for some to take on the role of getting to know visitors and us striving to be more inviting. I of course don't mean inviting to trolls... haha.I mean if someone took the initiative to talk to new members. Maybe if we made a special forum for each guest where they could immediately post to their own thread that only members can see?

And then there is marketing issues... 1. This website is not advertised, so people have to be looking for it to find it. 2. We dont send out emails to encourage people to return/capture interest/remind people of this place.

I have also observed inactive periods, sometimes days long here at RoR but I don't think Joe is going to shut it down. If you don't mind me saying it, I like you and am interested in what you have to say but I think you've jumped from the frying pan into the fire.

Mike - Right back atcha. I have no desire to insult Steve, and I welcome his comments to my threads. People may think I'm being harsh with MSK, but it wasn't always so. I contributed many threads to his website that members said they enjoyed, and I never raised a hand to him until he started in with me. Whatever my faults, I give credit where it's due, and I never crossed a man who didn't deserve it.

Brant - After-the-fact justification for banning? Shouldn't the horse typically go before the cart?

Robert, please post the suggested analysis to the aforementioned "Altruism Against Freedom" thread to keep it relevant.

Also, since this site thrives on well-written primary articles, consider submitting one for standalone discussion on a topic of your choice ... but please make it an article about powerful ideas rather than this or that person's character.

So you can either post your "Baby in the Woods" analysis to the aforementioned thread or submit it as a standalone article depending on how you write it.
