I paid $25 for something I could have read online for free?

You can purchase our special "Celebrity Rand Fan" issue for only $3.50, either by check or credit card. Call 800-374-1776.
Alternatively, I could have bought exactly what I wanted for only $3.50, and foregone the magazine which I likely will not read anyway.  I wanted the celebrity issue as a collectible, but now I see that it will be as common as dirt.

In the future I will be more careful with my money.

Robert,

This issue looks excellent and I'll be discussing some articles on my blog --

Now if we could only get you to be more careful with your mouth.

Michael -- What you don't get with the online version is all the photos, graphics, artwork and things of that sort -- just the words on a screen. (We don't have centerfolds of Dagny and Dominique yet, but knowing Robert B, it's only a matter of time!) Also you need to wait for it, since we post the articles after our subscribers have a chance to read it first.

And a magazine still is easier to read on the plane or train or beach.

So you're getting good value for your bucks!

Most people would regard our "Brangelina" issue as a "collectible" because of its unique all-Rand focus, its stunning cover and interior graphics, and also because the press run was limited. The feedback has been extraordinary, and I'm sure that most readers will keep their copies.

Also, as Ed points out, most people find it highly inconvenient to read long articles on a computer screen, rather than have them compiled in a compact, transportable, easy-to-read magazine. Many also tell us that they find great value in the first-rate artwork, photographs, and graphic elements now found in TNI, none of which appears online. In addition, our subscribers receive their copies in the mail weeks before we post the content online.

All I can say in summary is that people have been voting with their dollars, and new subscriptions are flooding in at an unprecedented rate.

 The market is always right!

My copy is going into a comic baggie and then to my wife's shelf next to her first edition Dark Knights.

I agree 100% about print versus online for media. On a plane, I continue reading while everyone else is locking down.  The nice thing about online though is the ability to cut and paste:

Rob Lowe was interviewed in September 2004 by Elle magazine and was asked, “What woman, living or dead, would you love to meet?” The former West Wing star answered enthusiastically, “I’m almost done with Atlas Shrugged and it’s completely blowing my mind, so Ayn Rand.” In another interview he added, “Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand is a stupendous achievement and I just adore it.”

Keep up the good work and don't credit too much insight to this grumpy old man.
