So having received the prize is the best proof of having accomplished something?

Okay, then what, exactly, has he done. Not said. Not hoped. Not promised to do. Done. What has Barack Hussein Obama actually done?

The nomination is due Feb 1. So, in the 12 days between his inauguration (Jan 20) and the day he was nominated, he must have done something worth the nomination. Apparently "not being George Bush" is considered a deed in Norwegian metaphysics. So we are all of us except GWB worthy of the medal?

Every time I read this I chuckle. I immediately get a mental image of Dave Chappelle in "Half Baked" impersonating a Jamaican in rasta gear.

"If I wasn't from Jamaica, then why would I be wearing this hat? "

If he wasn't a peacemaker, then why would he have that award?

I wonder if he gets to keep the Nobel for fighting the proliferation of nuclear weapons once Iran finds the watch battery and paperclip they need to finish their bomb.

Maybe it was just a slow year ;)

Just for fun, who would you say deserved the prize this year?

That's the real tragedy, Doug. The developers of the microlending paradigm, a productive, effective market solution to a real problem got the Nobel a while back and the prize brought them world-wide attention they would otherwise never have gotten. (Obama needs less, not more attention.) By abrogating their responsibility in making a serious choice for who would win this award they wasted their time, violated Alfred Nobel's wishes, harmed the causes that really deserved their attention, and made of themselves a joke which they will never live down.

"I have a majority in both Houses of Congress.  I could have required all gays to marry and all cars to run on marijuana, but did I?"

Newsflash [beep, beep, beep]:

Obama sends in a third of the troops requested by commanding general; gets nominated for Purple Heart

In other news:

Obama helps disabled child cross finish line in Special Olympics; committee tells boy he must share Gold Medal with Obama; crowd emphatically agrees

In still other news:

Obama awarded Pulitzer Prize for planning to write novel about boy and dog by tree in field

"I've really been thinking a lot about writing this novel," Obama said to the crowd, "it would be about a boy and his dog by a tree in a field." The crowd answered with a standing ovation. He didn't yet have a manuscript or anything, so Obama just signed people's foreheads for his autograph, which reads:

"I'm planning to write this really great novel.

BH Obama"

From CNN.commies:

Obama receives Surgeon General Award for plans to cut down on smoking

"I've been thinking a lot about cutting down on smoking." Obama said in the interview. "I mean, there's probably CO2 emitted when I smoke so much. I'm planning to be reducing my "carbon-footprint" sometime soon, maybe by this time next year. I'm planning to do it for the environment and whatnot. I look at this award as one of great expectations -- rather than as one that is motivated by unearned white-guilt and is, in all actuality, nothing more than the soft-bigotry of coddling a black man in power."
