| | Mike,
You are one tough critic. If your standard was applied uniformly, then that would make virtually all kinds of speech-based videos -- even instructional videos and public service announcements -- into sci-fi thrillers, or something roughly equivalent ...
Jedi knight: [waving hand in circle, slowly] These aren't the droids that you are looking for.
Imperial soldier: These may not be the droids that we are looking for, but did you know that you could save 15% on your land-speeder insurance by switching to Geico?
... or ...
Young farmer from Tatooine: R2, you need to shut down this trash compactor right now!
Public service announcement [1950's style instructional voice]: Trash compactors can be dangerous. One should never attempt to operate a trash compactor from the inside. If a trash compactor is about to crush you like a pancake, then attempt to slow it down with a metal bar that may have been deposited there serendipitously. At all times, be on the lookout for serpent-like creatures who may be inhabiting your local trash compactor, as these are quite common in the Dagobah system. Above all, remember the slogan: Stop, drop, and either use the force, or call a dorky-looking but heavily animated robot who happens to have extensions that fit precisely into control modules for nearly every type of mechanical device.
... or ...
Announcement: Have you or a family member been harmed by noxious fallout from laser fire? Then call the offices of "Skywalker, Kenobi, and Jinn." They've been in business for 95 years and getting you compensation has always been their number one goal.
... or ...
[flashy light saber battle interrupted by the unwanted shut-off of Skywalker's light saber; Skywalker turns to the camera]: Have you ever been engaged in a task so important that you couldn't afford to have your batteries run out? Then get the new Duracell Lithium-ion batteries. They are guaranteed to last 10x longer than a store-brand alkaline battery. Who knows, it could be your own life that you save! [small print at bottom of screen: The jedi masters depicted here are highly-trained actors. Do not attempt to have an actual light-saber battle with your friend at home, as this could lead to a serious incapacitation or even an early death]
:-)
