It is very clear to me that the concept of AGW is being driven by an anti-industrial/capitalism ideology that has nothing to do with science.  It has everything to do with a centralization of power (i.e. increased power to the government and to international government in particular) as well as a desire to damage capitalism/consumerism now that communism has been discredited, as well as the people who worship the earth and call it environmentalism.  None of this is fact based.  The level of propoganda, lies, distortions, and falsehoods are staggering.  The various forces behind this all have varying agendas, but they all come from one or more of the above ideologies.  The real scientists studying this are either pawns whose work is distorted (you can read about how many scientists are angry about how their work is being used) or who are part of the forces at work here, in one way or another.  Some just want grants, some believe some or all of the above, but none of it is anything anyone should be paying a lot of attention to at all.  The problem is the evil ideologies themselves, not what they call climate change - the problem is:

1)  People who want power over you - governments
2)  People who want to profit from it at your expense
3)  People who want communism/socialism
4)  People who worship the earth - environmentalists

These are the true evils and are, in fact, a grave threat to human life on earth.

the IPCC assumption that atmospheric CO2 increases are 100% anthropogenic

This ignores the historic and prehistoric evidence that CO2 levels rose and fell largely in REACTION to non-human climate changes. You see a miniature version of this every year in seasonal climates: as plant growth takes off in spring, it affects CO2 levels.

A long-term graph on a geological time scale of CO2 levels versus temperature:

Note how the CO2 keeps peaking shortly after the temperature peak, which suggests that the temperature changes largely cause the CO2 changes. Note also the enormous shifts in both, far exceeding recent events, at times that absolutely couldn't be caused by human influences.
