Exactly! If you, Hawaii and Alaska, Canada, and the countries in the Caribbean, South and Central America don't like having the map of the American Continent divided into US time zones then my suggestion is to secede from the Union.

You don't see any Africans complaining that their entire continent is on equal footing with a piss-ant country like the UK do you. :-)

This poll demonstrates the moral bankruptcy of the social metaphysical muscle mystic whim worshippers who are befuddling young Objectivists with their anti-intellectual range of the moment consensus fascism. They should admit to being followers of Immanuel Kant. it would be more honest.

The ontologically non-contradictory identification of "locale" as a metaphysical primary requires a conscious effort to place a word (as a conceptual unit qua unit) in a box.

However, although the intellectual liberals on SOLO proudly maintain reason as their standard of value, they grant a moral sanction to the cracker barrel conservatives when they accept an unearned guilt of living either on the East Coast or on the West Coast or in the Midwest, as if this Hegelian three-valued "logic" were morally defensible! I will not even discuss the "Mountain" option because it is not really a choice.

Students of Objectivism often ask if addressing such an issue is philosophically appropropriate. It is not. Opinion polls are the final stage of a long intellectual process. If civilization is to be saved, the fight must be about epistemology.

Therefore, any advocate of capitalism must be an advocate of reason qua reason which means: filling in the blank; which means: identifying your locale; which means: saying where you live.

Would everyone be happy if we introduced a new category for the South called "Backwoods" or "Hillbilly" instead of "Other"?

I'm just brainstorming here, trying to come up with something non-offensive.

A few days ago, there was a "Mule-fest" in my town. I'm not sure what it was, but I live in the South.

Hi, I'm back. I have a more specific question regarding geographic location of Soloists.

We've recently started Solo Illinois and so I'm asking those of you in Illinois or nearby to please join us. Both the Chicago Meet-up (northside) and New Intellectual Forum (southside) are meeting this coming weekend. So git, git, git to your local group and I hope to see you there.

P.S. Linz..... I think you shot the wrong guy. G$II is still lurking the streets of Chicago, playing god and scaring the bejesus outta kittens and young girls. Luckily, he does not attend meetings.

I just wasted some time converting this pic to png to show how important image format can be. jpg slaughters a cartoon image at the edges. use png or gif with cartoon like images, errr any image with solid colors which change at sharp edges.
