ME,

I admire George Cordero and consider him an excellent writer.  The essay from which that quote was taken I have saved as a favorite.  His quote was an elegant version of what Rich often tried to say.

If I had thought that your first post in this thread was a genuine expression of your being perplexed I might have written something like "Robert, perhaps the context is different".
My post was:

I'm not sure I follow all of this
Why would that statement not be genuine.  I do not spend much time on the forum, did not read '42' and could not understand why Rich was being hounded.

I think even that would have offended you.
Therein lies the problem.

Thanks for your good wishes.

Thank you, Mr. Rowlands. My whole point was that Objectivism is valuable at all levels of understanding. Mr. Davison disagrees, but I have no idea why.

I actually enjoy reading dissenting opinions as they're wonderful opportunities to refine my own thinking, and there are many persuasive writers here, but Mr. Davison is not one of them.

Schmoozing, butt-kissing, and popularity contests are ridiculous claims happening only in Mr. Davison's mind. He's free to be the better man in the face of criticism, free to make his ideas clear, free to be persuasive, but prefers to be "retaliatory."  Reactive instead of pro-active. Is this a good model for persuasion and activism?
I think it's toxic.

Robert D.:

"Why would that statement not be genuine?"

You are right. I may have jumped to an unwarranted conclusion. I apologize for the grief I have caused you in this thread. We have had heated exchanges in the past which perhaps unfairly cloud my perception of your intentions. My intention now is to remain objective in any future exchanges. I regret that it is too late to edit my previous post. I went too far and I certainly don't believe what I wrote. I do not consider myself to be your intellectual superior.

Best regards,

Mike Erickson

Mike,

There is no reason for us to be enemies.  I can be wrong; I can be cantankerous and stubborn, but I am never dishonest.  I will acknowledge the better argument.

I have sanctioned you upon occasion as well.  None of this should be personal.
