Ethan, after I read your magnificent post, from where I plucked this quote, I half expected you to end that post with a line from The Untouchables; the line where after giving him some advice, Sean Connery says to Kevin Costner, " and thus endeth the lesson..."

They say that patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel; I tell you that atheism is his first refuge. When you expound against the religious mores of another person, is your exposition a defense of reason, or a hammer of ridicule? If the mere image or mention of a religious figure or symbol can throw you into a fit of rage, I tell you that your issue is not with a false morality, but with the very concept of morality itself. Take your time, Robert, it'll come to you.

Hint: context.

ME,

Your opinion of yourself is highly inflated.  I suggest you find a way to distinquish between egoism and egotism. ;-)

RD,

"Your opinion of yourself is highly inflated."

Aw, shucks, gee, THANK YOU [BLUSH]

"I suggest you find a way to distinquish between egoism and egotism."

Easy: if I agree with RD, I'm an "egoist". If I DON'T agree with RD, I'm an "egotist". ;-)

Oh come on, Robert. Where's your sense of humor? I've still got the Nutcracker going through my head, and you're all grumpy. :-)

Robert.

If you read George's article you'll see that the situation with Rich and the one that George is talking about in his article are completely different. Context.

Rich,

I'm think you're just being humorous(you tell me), but if you're not, then you should recognize that George adding my quote was because he thought it valuable and worth highlighting. Those who casts stones at such credit giving are often those who have low self-esteem or have some axe to grind. I appreciate that George found value in my comment. Calling it "worship" is just one of those silly little stone throwing games that people with no arguements to make like to play. So, I hope you just making a joke, but I'm not ready to just give you the benfit of the doubt on it.

Ethan

Fantastic quote, Ethan. George, thank you for adding this. Fidelity to reality and evidence is painful to some; I include myself, at times, among those.
