As a former resident of and still worker in Massachusetts, All I can say is Mitt Romney is an ass. I've still never voted for a Republican or a Democrat. They lie and say what they think will make you vote for them. This Land is land. It's this lands people that will be the hope of the world, but only if we pull our heads out of our mystical asses and start focusing on things that really matter.

Sorry Ed :-(

Less the crudities, I am with Ethan.  Pithy quotes stand alone.  We all like insightful aphorisms.  At some level, though, Ed Thompson should be able to come up with a slew of them on his own -- as who could not? -- and they would at least come from someone whose personal philosophy is based on reason and empirical evidence.

America is a great nation and Americans are a great people.
I like you... you like me... we're a happy family...

"This land is the hope of the world." - Mitt Romney

Few men have ever lived up to their ideals, and even worse, many men lack any ideals at all. But be that as it may, the sentiment expressed in Romney's quote is one that I share, and find beautiful.

I came up with a new quote I like to environmentalists:

"The Friends of the Earth are the Enemies of Man"

someone said to me they were a "friend of the earth" and I said this - interestingly they agreed with me!

Audrey,
I have a philosophy book in which the authors used one of Jack Handey's "Deep Thoughts" to open each chapter.  Great stuff!
