Wow, this is great!

I have expressed before that I am very interested in the role of the woman who fainted on the stand in the super weapon test scene. I wonder will there be an audition.... :-)

Interestingly, the producers' last name is Baldwin -- any relation to the altruist: Alec Baldwin??

I am very sorry, Hong, but you must have considerable acting experience to pull off this part.

I have always thought Angelina Jolie would make an excellent Dagny, primarily because she seems to always choose to play an intelligent independant woman.

But I've been practicing fainting ever since last year! Swoon...thud. Damn.

Hong,
You have a very strange sense of humor.  I love it.

P.S.  Your "thud" needs a little more work.

Glenn told me:
"Your "thud" needs a little more work."

Just put me in the same room with Paul Bettany and see me doing the "thud" ;-)

Isn't anyone here remotely terrified of how Hollyweird is going to interpret a pro-capitalist, pro-individualist tome like "Atlas Shrugged"? I wouldn't be surprised if they made John Galt an environmental lawyer who challenged the evil forces of profit-seekers.

Since our Atlas Society/Objectivist Center Trustee is co-executive producer and owns the movie rights to Atlas Shrugged and since David Kelley as already reviewed a script, I think they can keep it from becoming the kind of mess Hollywood might otherwise make of it.

I saw the "Atlas Shrugged" movie is now also listed in The Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) as a project to be released in 2007. So it looks like a definite go. I am so excited about this. Congratulation to Ed, Robert, and all the TOC guys. It's a tremendous achievement to just have this movie made. Of course, afterwards, you'll definitely get all the blames for every fault we find in the movie! Be prepared!

Thanks Hong!

A little bit more inside info, though this is hardly a surprise. Apparently the phone at Lionsgate has been ringing off the hook since this story leaked, with calls from fans and agents. It's good that they see the interest in this movie even before a frame is shot!

Is there a director yet?  I would so geeked if Ron Howard directed it.

The guy who plays the President in "24" should play the President in the Atlas movie. But he comes on stage late in the novel, and I hear the coming movie is only about the first third of the novel.

Evelyn -- The movie will probably cover the first third or half, depending on what the director, producers and studio determine. The script they have now could be tweaked either way.

The Pres. from 24 is turning out to be a real bad guy!

Hi Ed,
I have a curious question: since ARI/Leonard Peikoff is the heir of the Rand estate, how come TOC owns the movie right for Atlas Shrugged?

Actually, John Aglialoro, one of our Trustees, owns the rights. He bought them from Peikoff. Naturally it would be extremely helpful for our Atlas Society activities to have a successful Atlas Shrugged movie in the theaters!
