I just can hardly stand to wait and find out who they say is the good guy, and who is the bad. But I won't find out this season.
I love this kind of story line though. It keeps me on the edge of my seat. Anyone not watching is missing out.

David,
If you're talking about the show I think you're talking about, it's fabulous.

If anybody here watches Battlestar Galactica, can they please post a notice if the show runs a marathon from the beginning, or if it goes into syndication from the beginning? I have really enjoyed some episodes, but am lost since I have not been able to catch the episodes in order from the beginning.

I gotta say, I love Doctor Who and BSG, but I had to choose The Doctor only because who can take on a race of tin-canned genocidal aliens with a sonic screwdriver. :)

Renting Galactica is just not a practical option for me right now, (DVD in storage, boyfriend hates the show, mail thru a POB) and I'd much rather DVR it.

I should have voted Heroes, since so many other people have voted for what I did pick - House. Are there no fans here of "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World?"

Ted

(Oh, and Brede, thanks for voting for the Doctor. He came in third for me, but only because I was spoiled by the Tom Baker Years. Those of us lucky enough to have been teens in the 80's got to watch 80 commercial-free minutes of him weekly on PBS, interrupted only by the fund-raising drives.)

"LOST" is damn addicting....
You can be a retard and enjoy it, or a genius and get a whole other level of "Holy crap!" out of the show.

BSG was great.

Battlestar Galactica was a good show before this current season. Now when I watch it I always get the feeling the main characters are pieces of shit and actually don't deserve to live. I wonder if Ron Moore actually expects people to like his characters?

The best shows are all cancelled:  "Babylon Five, Farscape, Dark Angel, Firefly, Sliders."

I still don't get why "The Practice" was not just terminated but imploded, with every good thing the heros did turned on its head.  Did Kelley have some kind of vendetta going against the network?  That stupid smirking Boston Legal is nowhere near the quality of TP at its apex.

B5 just barely made it to its somewhat disappointing conclusion, with a lot more to say, some of which got said, but not very well on the SciFi Channel, which seems to have its own agenda for demolishing and sucking the last blood of every really good show it gets.

Farscape was just an absolute delight, and I can hardly believe that they stopped it...

Etc.

The solution: let the viewers BUY THE SHOWS!  Forget sponsors and network idiots going for whatever minimal least common denominator will keep the most people supinely absorbing the commercials (many of which are a lot better than the shows, now).  Instead, let the users buy a ticket to watch and then let's see how many Farscapes and Dark Angels get trashed.  If there were only a couple million watchers and they paid in a buck per episode, that's plenty to produce most shows, and all of the above mentioned shows had a lot more than two million fanatical viewers.

Farscape was destroyed by two things - the Sci-Fi Network's absolutely insane programming schedule, with the show being on hiatus for months at a time, then shown out of order, with only one or two parts of three-part episodes being shown. But also, a German conglomerate bought Henson Productions during the internet bubble, and the ever-wise corporate hacks cancelled production in order to cut costs when the bubble turned sour.

But this poll had to be limited in some way. Had cancelled shows been included, how many choices would there have been?

Teresa, Sorry I didn't specify. 4400 is absolutely my favorite show. I tune in every sunday night, 9pm pst on USA channel.
I also watch BSG. But they have me absolutely confused. They claim to be making their way to Earth, but haven't left their own star system yet. And it has been, what, 3 years? They are never gonna make it the way they keep procrastinating.
Lost, lost my interest half way into the second season.

How much BSG do you watch? Because the only "confused" BSGers are those who watch it sporadically.

Let me repeat this again for people who are just "casual" watchers of BSG: It doesn't work that way. It works this way:

1)You WILL NOT understand anything going on in season 3 or 4 UNLESS you watch seasons 1 and 2.
2)You WILL understand everything going on in seasons 3 and 4 if you watch seasons 1 and 2.

The show is NOT like other TV programs that intend to last as long as their ratings will let them, making up stories and plots as they go along, or featuring several single story episodes that have no bearing on another episode. (This isn't a crime procedural, like CSI or something.)

BSG's next season will be its last...not because it is being cancelled or because of poor ratings, (people love this show, critics rave about it.) Season 4 will be the last because it is supposed to be the last. This story was meant to have an ending, and this upcoming season will end it. (By the way, Phil, it is my understanding that Babylon 5 was also only supposed to have a five year run to tell its story as well.)

As for your specific question, David:

The fleet makes a major detour on the way to earth with unspeakably disastrous results (I'm trying not to be specific so as not to ruin the show for others) but that one HUGE event, as well as the continued Cylon attacks on the fleet, problems such as fuel and food shortages, and even political unrest and rioting have certainly added to the "delay" in finding and reaching Earth (the exact location of which isn't even known).

I hope I haven't spoiled too much, but if one more person posts a comment about how confusing the show is, when they haven't seen enough to understand it, I'm going to scream.

Erica

******SPOILER ALERT for BSG******

Erica you're absolutely right that BSG really can't be watched without starting from the beginning. I've watched the show religiously because the pilot movie had me hooked, seasons 1 and 2 were great, but this last season? The crap between Apollo and Kara (cheating on each other's respective spouses) and the generally low moral standards these people display has sickened me somewhat. These people are supposed to be the protagonists and the Cylons the antagonists, but now they seem to be implying it's a moral "gray" area. Combine that with Kara's inexplicable death (why was committing suicide her destiny?) and then showing up next to Apollo's ship several episodes later as a what? A ghost? And of course we had to have the standard "Pro-Labor Union" episode complete with Marxist rhetoric. And the "All Along the Watchtower" stuff between the now revealed final 5 Cylons left me baffled. I hope Ron Moore will come up with a good explanation because right now it is confusing and just seems like the man is winging it at this point. And the interpersonal relationships between his protagonists make me wish they just all died in a Cylon attack.

By the way Battlestar Galactica has lost quite a bit of ratings and was canceled by the Sci/Fi network. I don't know if low ratings was the reason for cancellation or not but I agree that story-wise it's hard to imagine that story being told past a fourth season. I do know however the actors and producers are upset the show is getting canceled.

(I have now met my week's quota for geekdom internet posts) :)
