| | I also watch BSG. But they have me absolutely confused. They claim to be making their way to Earth, but haven't left their own star system yet. And it has been, what, 3 years? They are never gonna make it the way they keep procrastinating. (David)
How much BSG do you watch? Because the only "confused" BSGers are those who watch it sporadically.
Let me repeat this again for people who are just "casual" watchers of BSG: It doesn't work that way. It works this way:
1)You WILL NOT understand anything going on in season 3 or 4 UNLESS you watch seasons 1 and 2. 2)You WILL understand everything going on in seasons 3 and 4 if you watch seasons 1 and 2.
The show is NOT like other TV programs that intend to last as long as their ratings will let them, making up stories and plots as they go along, or featuring several single story episodes that have no bearing on another episode. (This isn't a crime procedural, like CSI or something.)
BSG's next season will be its last...not because it is being cancelled or because of poor ratings, (people love this show, critics rave about it.) Season 4 will be the last because it is supposed to be the last. This story was meant to have an ending, and this upcoming season will end it. (By the way, Phil, it is my understanding that Babylon 5 was also only supposed to have a five year run to tell its story as well.)
As for your specific question, David:
The fleet makes a major detour on the way to earth with unspeakably disastrous results (I'm trying not to be specific so as not to ruin the show for others) but that one HUGE event, as well as the continued Cylon attacks on the fleet, problems such as fuel and food shortages, and even political unrest and rioting have certainly added to the "delay" in finding and reaching Earth (the exact location of which isn't even known).
I hope I haven't spoiled too much, but if one more person posts a comment about how confusing the show is, when they haven't seen enough to understand it, I'm going to scream.
